My Path To Healing
My story of healing starts out as all do: with a story of suffering. I came to New York when I was eighteen to study acting at NYU.
But adjusting to being in college, being away from home, living in New York, and attending a rigorous acting program was too much. I gained a freshman 30 pounds (that’s right, double the famous “freshman 15”), and was dealing with a tough breakup on top of everything. I was depressed and completely lost.
That’s when I decided to change my life. Well, I’m not so sure if it was a decision as much as a last resort. After a heart-wrenching year trying to make my dream of acting work, I figured out that another dream of mine was more important: being happy. I stopped acting and stumbled around my life like a newborn calf. Bouncing between different schools and programs in NYU, dabbling in drugs and drinking too much alcohol, participating in a string of unhealthy relationships…I made a lot of mistakes, but I learned those lessons very quickly. I started feeling better as I surrounded myself with strong women who were farther along this path than I, including a therapist, an acupuncturist, a nutrition coach, a Reiki master, and an amazing life coach.
When I finally, fully committed to following my happiness no matter what, I ended up in the Gallatin School of Individualized Study at NYU. This school allowed me to explore exactly what I wanted to learn. I was intensely drawn to different healing modalities and philosophies that helped me cope with the extreme healing that was happening in my personal life. I studied Eastern philosophy and religion, shamanism, Reiki energy healing, Native American arts and traditions, yoga, and the philosophy of medicine. I was blessed and elated to find that I am a naturally gifted healer. Spreading joy, love, and awareness through my healing brought me more happiness than I ever could have imagined.
I stumbled upon an amazing revelation: following what makes me happy was the key to finding my purpose in life. Living my life’s purpose is what gives me a lasting sense of happiness and well-being.
I felt called to weave in food and nutritional healing into the energy work I was doing. After graduating from NYU, I attended the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. I’ve learned and am continually learning how to help others along the path that I am still following: the path of your most vibrant life.
I’m now absolutely thrilled to say that I’m living the life of my dreams. What makes me happy is living a balanced life so that I can fulfill my life’s purpose: to help you figure out what makes you happy and how to stay in that place of deep contentment.
